This policy explains what information Dokilit collects when you visit the site or create an account, how we use it, and the choices you have. It’s written by the Dokilit team and is not independent legal verification.

What we collect

• Account info. If you sign in, we store your email address, an optional display name, and (for Google sign-in) your profile photo URL.
• Saved books & recent views. When signed in, we record which books you save and recently viewed so we can show them back to you.
• Book page views. We increment an anonymous counter when any visitor opens a book page, so the homepage can rank books by what people are actually clicking. This counter is not tied to your identity.
• Contact messages. If you send us a message through the contact form, we keep your name, email, and message so we can reply.

What we don’t do

• We don’t sell your personal information.
• We don’t show third-party advertising on the site.
• We don’t publish your saved-books list, recent views, or profile to other users.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of providers to run the site: a backend platform that hosts our database and authentication, an AI provider that helps generate review summaries, and Amazon Associates for affiliate book links. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.

Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in and remember your theme preference. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your rights

You can update your display name from your account page, sign out at any time, or ask us to delete your account and associated data by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under laws like the UK GDPR or California CCPA — we’ll honour valid requests.

Children

Dokilit is aimed at parents and guardians, not children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.
