Why we started

Dokilit came from a personal moment: the creator’s own children wanted to read books that didn’t line up with what their family was comfortable with, and there was no quick, clear way to know what was in them. That gap led to the idea of a parent-focused tool that helps families discern what’s on the page before saying yes or no.

Dokilit launched in June 2026.

Our purpose

Dokilit is an AI-powered tool for Christian parents, grandparents, teachers and guardians who want to know what’s in a book before handing it to a child or teen. We believe modern AI gives families new ways to discern what’s on the page — so no one has to read blindly.

Our voice

We write as concerned but warm parents. We assume you love good stories, want to protect young hearts, and are looking for a trustworthy starting point for a conversation — not a final verdict on every book.

What the name means

Dokilit is a blend of two ideas: dokimazo (δoκιμάζω), the Greek word for discernment used in the New Testament, and lit, short for literature. We test and examine books so you can discern what is good for your family.

You make the choice

We score books to help parents make informed decisions — not to make them for you. Even as Christians, we are all different, with unique children, convictions, and relationships. The important thing is that you have the information you need to choose what is right for your family.

How AI helps us

Dokilit uses AI to analyse books against standardised content questions and produce summaries, scores, and talking points quickly. It is a tool for discernment, not a replacement for your own judgement. Every family is different, so we always encourage parents to read, discuss, and decide for themselves.
